Idowu Olugbenga was born to the family of Oladimeji Adewumi over four decades ago. He had his secondary education in Oluyole Extension High School, Ibadan. Adewumi proceeded to the prestigious University of Ibadan where he graduated with a B.Sc. Degree in Industrial & Production Engineering at Second Class honor level in 2009. Idowu also have BSc in Computer Science from Ecole Superieure Sainte Felicite with Second Class Upper Division in 2012, Republic of Benin.
Dr. Idowu completed Master of Science (M.Sc) degree in Agricultural & Environmental Engineering (Farm Power & Machinery Option) in 2014 from University of Ibadan, Oyo State Nigeria. Idowu was bagged Doctor of Science from Commonwealth University, via London Graduate School, United Kingdom in Information and Communication Technology (DSc. 2019).
Based on Idowu contributions to the development of Youth in Nigeria and world at large, He was recognized as ECOWAS YOUTH AMBASSADOR by the Economic of West African State Youth Parliament representing 15 Countries in West Africa including Nigeria in 2022. Dr. Idowu Adewumi was honored as one of the 100 Most Influential and Achivers in Oyo State by IPAAN Association Worldwide. Dr. Idowu is the Special Adviser/Ambassador, National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Zone D and a life Patron of NANS.
Aside from the normal degree, he had professional certificates in areas of Information technology, which includes; UNESCO Certificate in E-Learning Series on ICT in Education (2019), Master Class Certificate in E-Learning and Digital Marketing (London Graduate School, 2019), Front-end Developer Certificate (2021), Fullstack Developer (2022), Database Expert, Research Analyst, NSQAP Software Expert, PhP Expert, Certified Cisco Network Design (CCND), Certified Computer Technician Associate (CCTA), Certified Cisco Network Associate (CCNA), Software Development, among others.
Adewumi is currently on his PhD program at the Prestigious Universidad De Costa Rica USA, with special focus on alternative energy. Adewumi started his career with Federal College of Agriculture, Moor Plantation Ibadan, Nigeria where he assumed duty as Mechanical Engineer II in 2011. He rose through the ranks to the position of Lecturer II on 1st October, 2017 respectively.
Idowu have consistently been a highly devoted, dedicated and efficient worker. An excellent teacher who consistently demonstrates rich depth of the knowledge of his subject matter, clearly presenting same and always endeavoring to come down to the level of his students, being very observant and patient with them. Hence am loved by successive generations of students who have passed through me. He have taught several courses in the area of Engineering, including Engineering Mechanics (MEC 103), Strength of Materials (MEC 205), Fluid Mechanics (MEC 207), Applied Fluid Mechanics (PHT 312), Computer Programming (COM 311), Farm Power (AEP 441), and Research Methods (AGR 401) among others.
Apart from classroom teaching, he have been actively involved in personal and students’ scientific research. He has supervised several student research projects especially in the areas of renewable energy, modeling & simulation, automation, and agricultural machineries. Due to my vast knowledge in the area of Information Technology (IT), he was appointed as the pioneer Head of the College Electronic Library, and Software Development Unit, since 2015 till date. He has been a member and at various times, of several statutory and ad-hoc Committees of the College. Some of these committees the ICT Committee (2011 – till date), Secretary Post UTME Committee (2012 – till date), 2013 Graduation Committee, 95th Anniversary Committee among others.
His contribution to knowledge is worthy of note. Apart from bagging M.Sc in April, 2014, he has attended over 56 conferences, both national and international covering scientific, administrative and other areas of human endeavor. At most of these conferences he had presented papers which were often applauded and highly commended. He had published Forty nine (49) scientific papers and articles in reputable local and international journals with Eight engineering textbooks with the Lambert Publisher in Germany. Idowu have been selected in 2014 as one of the reviewers of World Academy of Science and Engineering Technology (WASET) journal.
He is a member of registered professional societies which include, The Nigerian Society of Engineers (MNSE), Nigerian Institute of Industrial Engineers (MNIIE), COREN Registered Engineer, National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) Canada. In 2015, Idowu was elected as the National Public Relations Officer for Nigerian Institute of Industrial Engineers (NIIE) in Nigeria at large. He has been a recipient of several merit awards, including the Oluyole Extension High School Ibadan, Merit award, Industrial & Production Engineering Award of Excellence, Award of Recognition from National Association of Ondo State Sudents, Student Union Government (as most Versatile Lecturer, 2016), Rotaract award of excellence, Best overall Project for Humanitarian (Rotary D9125) to mention but a few.
Adewumi positive influence is not restricted to the official arena alone. He is actively involved in socio-cultural and community development services. He is a member of the first and foremost humanitarian servicing organization in the world (Rotary International). He has served Rotary in various capacity, as a club officer, committee chair, and Charter President, Rotary Club of Ibadan Elebu Metropolis. Engr Adewumi is also a motivational Speaker, a frequent guest speaker at Seminars, Training programs, Conventions and Workshops for Schools, Youth Groups, Churches, professional and Non-Governmental Organizations.
Adewumi is happily married to Oluwafunmilayo and the marriage has been blessed with Success and Excellent. Idowu is Past Assistant Governor (2022-2023) in Rotary District 9125 Nigeria. He is the Immediate Past Chairman, Oyo State Welfare & Contact for Rotary International District 9125.
Currently PAG Idowu Adewumi is the District Chair for ICT (2024-2025) and also District Chair, Water is Life (2024-2025), Rotary International District 9126.
