Rotarian Olaniyi Okin was born over seven decades ago in Otan-Ile, Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State. He had his primary and middle school education in Ghana before attending Ibokun Grammar School for his secondary education where he graduated in 1974.
He gained admission into the University of Ife in 1977 and graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) Degree with Honours in 1981. He later obtained a Master's Degree in Law (LL.M) and another Master's Degree in Humanitarian and Refugee Studies (M.Sc HRS) from the University of Ibadan.
Legal Career
Rotarian Okin attended the Nigerian Law School and was called to the Nigerian Bar. He was enrolled to practice as a Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria on 24th July, 1982. He served his National Youth Service at the Ministry of Justice, Kano between July 1982 and June 1983.
He worked with Bayo Azeez Esq. Chambers, the Oyo State Ministry of Justice, Ibadan as State Counsel Grade II, and later served as Legal Adviser on Tax Matters at the Ministry of Finance. He subsequently joined G.T. Bello & Co. before establishing his own law firm, OLANIYI & CO., on 2nd October 1992.
Rotary Journey
Rotarian Okin was introduced into Rotary through Rotarian Soji Ijidale, Past Assistant Governor, and was inducted as a Rotarian on 22nd December 2002.
Since joining Rotary, he has served in various leadership positions. He started as Assistant Editor of the Club Weekly Bulletin and later became the substantive Editor until 2010.
